I was talking to a friend this week about how even the most well-intentioned of us tell untruths.
It’s not purposeful. It’s the effect of being human.
We don’t quite know what we want, or we express before we’ve really given the matter appropriate consideration. Maybe we’re speaking from a particular emotion, or saying what we WISH were true rather then what IS true.
I said to her, “We’re made of lies and stardust.”
There’s no judgment in that statement. It reminds me of my favorite quote from Walt Whitman: “Do I contradict myself? Very well, then I contradict myself, I am large, I contain multitudes.”
My takeaway? It’s ok to be human. That’s what I’m here for.
